Frequently Asked Questions

How do you manage your roast profiles?

Roasting beans is as much a science as an art. We have developed our own distinct roasting profiles that conform with the time and temperature standards for each roasting style, and give our coffee the consistently delicious flavor that we are Maddabout. Our Maddroaster constantly monitors and adjusts the temperature to ensure that our standards for that particular roast are met. We also use an agtron for quality assurance on every roast to make sure that our beans meet our roast profile standards.

Do you offer equipment?

We do offer equipment. Availability depends upon the volume of coffee you use or will be using.

How do you source your beans?

We work with a small group of importers, selected for their willingness to provide small batches of coffee from unique and small-scale farmers who satisfy our Responsible Purchasing principles. Our importers are willing to cooperate with our request for transparent contracts which allow us to evaluate both the practices and the profits of each participant in the chain of actors involved in providing our green beans. Prior to contracting for green bean we hold cuppings to ensure the finest taste and quality for the coffee we roast.

Do you roast to order?

Yes. Your order will processed, roasted and shipped within 72 hours of the time it was placed, to ensure freshness when it arrives at your door.

Do you have a "roasted on" system?

Yes. Each bag is clearly marked with the date on which the product was roasted.

What is involved with your onsite training program?

We will provide you with a questionnaire to complete prior to our visit to allow us to customize our training to your particular need. Some sample questions are; do you have a training manual?, what type of espresso machine do you use?, how do you store your beans? Once we have a basic understanding of how you operate, we will visit your coffee shop to teach you how to make the best use of your resources to provide a better, more satisfying coffee experience to your customers.

Do you offer credit terms?

Yes. New customers may fill our credit application, after which they are placed in a "probationary period" during which time the new customer must pay for its first three orders prior to shipping. After the "probationary period" our credit terms may vary depending on the results of the credit application.
